Our first project fully funded by “Heart&Art Ukraine,” the “Magic Kitchen,” was inaugurated on December 6th in the presence of Bill Hayes and Frank Donnelly. It is a place where people cook, eat, bake, sing, and celebrate together, as the older generation passes traditional recipes and songs on to young Ukrainians.
The “Magic Kitchen” is an additional space at “Sol Nest,” which has now become a true cultural and community center. Founded three years ago by Liliia and Leszek, the meeting place has since grown to include an expanding range of programs, including cooking classes, English and Polish language courses for children and young people, art and craft activities for all ages, and discussion groups – especially for women and single mothers who share similar experiences of displacement and refuge.
From 2026 onwards, “Sol Nest” will be fully funded by “Heart&Art Ukraine”, with guaranteed support for five years. This is a great relief and help for Liliia and Leszek! They can now concentrate entirely on their daily work without the pressure of financial worries.
